Therefore, WASSCE applicants must have credit passes or better (A1- C6) in six subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, namely:
- English Language;
- Mathematics;
- Integrated Science; or
- Social Studies.
Furthermore, you must obtain at least credit passes (i.e. A1 – C6) in your three relevant Elective Subjects.
SSSCE Applicants, Admission Requirement For Degree At UMAT
Likewise, the Minimum Admission Requirement into the University of Mines and Technology for SSSCE applicants is an aggregate of 36. For SSSCE applicants, the minimum requirement is an aggregate of 24.
Therefore, SSSCE applicants must have credit passes or better (A- D) in six subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, namely:
- English Language;
- Mathematics;
- Integrated Science; or
- Social Studies.
Furthermore, you must obtain at least credit passes (i.e. A – D) in your three relevant Elective Subjects.
O Level And A Level Applicants, Admission Requirement For Degree At UMAT
Notably, these applicants must have a GCE Ordinary Level Certificate or its equivalent with a pass in five subjects, including:
- English Language;
- Mathematics;
- Physics; and
- Chemistry.
In addition to that, you should possess GCE Advanced Level Certificate with a pass in:
- Mathematics;
- Physics; and
- Chemistry.
Specially Sponsered Applicants, Admission requirement For UMAT Degree Programmes
Interestingly, this is a window of opportunity for applicants who cannot meet the competitive departmental cut-off, though they satisfy UMAT’s minimum entry of aggregate 36.
In this case, you can apply for admission, provided you have sponsorship to cover the full fees throughout your study at UMAT.
Remember that all fee-paying applicants must select “Fee-Paying” under the funding source when you are completing the application Forms.
International Applicants And Ghanaians With External Education Credentials
Interestingly this class of applicants should apply with any of these entry qualifications:
- Senior Secondary School Certificates (WASSCE or SSSCE)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- GCE (Cambridge) – ‘A’ Levels
- IGSCE (Cambridge) – ‘A’ Levels
- Any other relevant external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE or SSSCE and the GCE (A Levels)
- Baccalaureate (From any French-speaking country)
- Foreign High School Diploma that is equivalent to WASSCE.
Other International Students having equivalent qualifications may apply for admission.
Notably, all applicants with Foreign Certificates must receive authentication and accreditation from the Ghana National Accreditation Authority.
Furthermore, you must have proficiency in the English Language.
Also, Foreign students must have their high school certificates and diplomas translated into English if they are not written in English.
