All Bachelor of Clinical Medicine courses shall be compulsory unless the Faculty Board recommends exemption and the Senate approves.
Study Duration, Egerton University Clinical Medicine
First, interested applicants should note that the Bachelor of Clinical Medicine shall extend over 180 weeks.
The University divides the 180 weeks arriving at four (4) academic years each.
Here, it means that each regular student will do a total of 45 weeks each with a total of 251.0 CFs.
Furthermore, Bachelor of Clinical Medicine (In-service) students shall do over 127 weeks.
Again, the University divides the 127 weeks into two and a half academic years.
Therefore, each student will do a total of 45 weeks, each with a total of 175 CFs.
Meanwhile, the academic session for the course – Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine shall be in trimesters. Each trimester shall comprise 15 weeks.
Importantly, every student will have to undertake an eight (8) weeks compulsory community health attachment in the program’s third year.
In this regard, you will do community diagnosis and four (4) weeks of Health Service Management.
Egerton University School Of Medicine Entry Requirements
Candidates or applicants who wish to study for a bachelor of science degree in Medicine shall meet the University’s minimum requirement.
In this regard, you should meet these faculty requirements:
- Biology (B minus)
- English or Kiswahili (B minus)
- Mathematics (B minus)
- Chemistry (B minus)
Alternatively, you can also gain entry if you possess an advanced level in Biology and Chemistry. Here it does not matter if you have a subsidiary pass in Mathematics or Physics.
Requirement For Diploma Applicants, Medicine At Egerton
Also, Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery candidates can apply.
In this case, you should have at least a credit passes in related subjects in your KCSE or equivalent examination.
In this instance, your entry certificate should also be a health-related medical course from an institution recognized by Egerton University.
Interestingly, Clinical Officers with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in a related discipline will have an added advantage if they want to enrol.
Sometimes, the Egerton University Senate will approve a maximum of forty per cent (40%) credit transfer credit towards the requirements for the degree program when deemed necessary.
